In South Korea, it has become a very famous spots for teenagers to go there and relax, study and just chill after a long day. They have bright decor and excellent Wi-Fi connection. Now with more shops opening in South Korea, the challenge is for Koreans to start picking up a bagel and coffee and taking it to work with them. That is the main way they make business in Western Regions. They have changed their menu to have more green tea drinks and donuts with an Asian flavor. Also by using celebrities, they are appealing to the 21-30 year old group, who are more willing to try.

That is another angle of how Western companies are taking advantage of Asia. Since the youth in Asia are so well connected online and are so curious about the West, they love to imitate them and whenever they see an American eatery, they will go there because that makes them look hip. This is the other reason why any sized company from abroad should defiatnely have a plan Asia in place for the coming years.

Source: http://online.wsj.com

Image: The Consumerist
From a recent survey done by Burson-Marsteller, it discovered this trend that around 79% use at least one social media platform as part of their communications strategy. Other discoveries included around 65 per cent of them having twitter accounts and 54 per cent of them having facebook pages, 50 per cent have a youtube channel and 33 per cent of them have their own corporate blog too. On average, companies claimed to have 4.2
Twitter accounts, 2.1 Facebook fan pages, 1.6 YouTube channels and 4.2
corporate blogs.

In Asia the situation is a bit different, only around 40% of them have twitter accounts with more opting for personal blogs instead, that contributes around 50%. The research also indicated that Asian companies were very loyal to their local online marketing too and would not use facebook or twitter as much. Times are changing though, Charlie Pownall, Burson-Marsteller Asia-Pacific's lead digital strategist said, "As their domestic audiences continue to move

The number of billionaires in the region have skyrocketed from 130 last year to 234 this year, a rise of about 80 per cent which is a huge amount. This accounts for 23% of all 1011 billionaires on the list, a rise from 16% last year. The total value of these billionaires has also shot up from US$357 billion last year to US$729 billion this year which again is a huge rate. It was much greater than the rate in Europe which was only around 50% and it increased by just a mere 18$ in North America. Out of all the nations in Asia, China and India got the most increase in numbers but there were also huge increases in Japan and Hong Kong, even Pakistan found its first billionaire.

What does this tell? Well slowly and slowly Asia is becoming the most important and money making region in the world, we already have 2 billionaires in the top 10 and some more are almost there too. Another thing to take notice of is the age the people on top are very old and the Asians are young and bright and it is only a matter of time before they take over. Circumstances usually dictate the man and the situation here in Asia is looking good.

Source: http://www.theedgemalaysia.com

Image: lumaxart
Carlsberg had the option of staying in Europe and expanding with the help of mergers and acquisitions but they opted for a more expansive approach in Asia with more outlets and more marketing themes for these regions. In a report before, it was published that alcohol levels consumptions are going up in Asia and many big companies like Heineken are also having huge Asian plans.

Time and time again big companies are flocking here in the Asian region for expanding and there is great justification for that. The main population are here and most people around China and India are now getting in tune with the outside world. This could be done because of the internet connection now in these regions. Big western companies have made Asia their top choice for the coming years. Head to this region now.

Source: http://www.businessweek.com

Image: morberg
The sales were much lower in the US and Asia is continue to bail out this huge company. By changing their menus around Asia and offering items that each country needs, sales have gone up and other marketing plans like opening stores around some Asian cities for 24 hours have done well too. The availability of drive through service in China too is a huge benefit since the number of people using and driving cars there has been surging.

Asia has come to the rescue for many companies around the world and now most of them have an Asian plan in set or to be done in the coming years, the big companies like Kraft, Pepsi, Coke, Mcdonalds, Fatburger and Buger King are doing a lot to expand here because they know how profitable this region is. It is not only for fastfood companies but all companies moving to Asia, if they can satisfy the people, profits are there to be made. Small companies should look at how serious companies are when moving here and have a plan in place soon.

Source: http://www.rttnews.com

Image: myuibe
Now China wants to use this technology and connect Asia together. The plan is for some regions to share their natural resources with China and the China will help them out with technological advancement like the train idea. There are several networks recommended so far. The first one is going to connect, Kunming and Yunnan with South-East Asian nations like Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia. Another link will be from Urumqi to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and then possibly extend to Germany. Last one will start from Heilongjiang in the northeast and go north, cross Russia and aim for Western Europe.

The more connected Asia is, the more chances it has of overtaking the European nations and America for the most desirable economy. This rail connection will go a long way, it will somewhat resemble the rail network that can be seen in Europe. Asia is trying hard to become more connected and challenge other regions and being part of the Asian century can be done by absolutely anyone,

Source: http://www.scmp.com

Image: Speaker Pelosi

There will be an initial investment of around10 million RMB for this and it will be great for the online market and a great competitor for Western companies offering the same product or applications. Yet further proof of how the internet market in China is developing and the number of users coming online is increasing too. Also with the development of IDN, it means that the people who will be able to go online typing in their local language, it will make more of them go online and sites like these are going to benefit since they can change to that.

Yet another example of how active the internet users in Asia are. Constantly look for new ideas and this site from the comments, it can be seen that they sell stuff quite cheap and is very well known to Chinese people. The fact that this site is investing more and selling applications, comes to show how important the internet is becoming for people here and once you can build a solid reputation, the results will be enormous.

Source: http://thenextweb.com

Image: garethjmsaunders
The crisis is still felt in many regions across the West but the Asian countries have come out of it relatively well. Japan was the latest Asian nation to recover recently after its imports and exports started increasing rapidly. One reason for this according to Fox News is the way the parties reacted. The West started giving out massive aids to banks and bailouts were occurring in almost every industry. On the other hand, Asian nations responded by investing in real infrastructure projects,
cutting taxes, expanding their internal markets and launching their
companies on world markets--and these policies are reaping real benefits. This pro-active positive thinking behavior does reap benefits as shown now.

That is why investment in this region is becoming the number one action plan for many small and big companies. The future is looking very good indeed in Asia, China and India were the 2 big winners from the crisis, posting record growth in GDP in the past year and this trend is going to continue. Another angle of this is the online market, the number of people coming online in Asia is going to increase a lot while it has almost reached its peak in Western countries, with the whole idea of E-Commerce taking off, Asia is going to be a prime market, Ideas, ideas :)

Source: http://www.foxnews.com

Image: lumaxart
The North American arm did not do so well, racking up huge losses but it was bailed out by the re-emergence of the Asian arm which recorded surges in profit. The head of HSBC Michael Geoghegan said " It is an exciting time to be in Asia," and "This is why I moved my principal office to
Hong Kong in February this year, to manage the HSBC Group from the
heart of the world's fastest-growing region." HSBC has great plans in Asia with plans in place to open its 100th mainland branch and more is definitely to come.

The banking industry is the most crucial industry and when things are going well there, other industry seems to follow suit. The fact that the biggest bank in the world is investing so much in the region and moving the CEO here are signs that Asia as a powerhouse is not just a gimmick, it is something to be taken seriously. Small companies, online companies, every organisation having a presence here in Asia will greatly benefit in the coming years.

Source: http://www.scmp.com

Image: Adam UXB Smith

This is when they hope to have an Asian region very similar to that of the European Union where all nations share tremendous trade benefits and also they have their own currency and so on. ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan stressed the need to fuse the disparate economies into a single market to be competitive. It does make perfect sense and the major differences between the nations have been settled. Right now, there are minor problems between the nations and once these are settled, it will be put into action and ready to go very soon, There have even been backs of combining this pact with the United States and that would make it very powerful indeed.

This pact adds more value to the DotAsia domain space too since getting the ".Asia" domain name would really represent the whole region and a huge market would be targetted. It is true that right now, there are some divisions but with this and also there are talks on the table to incorporate Australia more to Asia and that would be the cherry on the icing of the cake and Asia would be the main region in the world.

Source: Associated Press

Image: lumaxart
