According to a survey from PayPal, the online shopping market size of Hong Kong has reached US$1.9 billion this year and is expecting to reach US$2.5 billion in 2015. Hong Kong is not only a brick-and-mortar shopping paradise now, but also a virtual shopping paradise of Asia. Hong Kong people is becoming more tech-savvy that there are nearly 2 million online shoppers aged above 18 years old now with an average spend per head of $991 in the past year.
From the study of PayPal, it is revealed that convenience is the most important incentive for shopping online while variety of choice and bargain deals follow. "The Hong Kong netizens are no doubt embracing the benefits of shopping online and via mobile like never before, and in turn, creating enormous opportunities in e-commerce for local businesses." said Kerry Wong, General Manager of PayPal Hong Kong and Taiwan.
