Latest numbers from MasterCard indicate that spending in Asia Pacific region is really on the up and they will be investing more in the region in the coming years. MasterCard on Monday announced a 22 percent increase in gross dollar volume for MasterCard premium credit and charge programs in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa region for the quarter ending on 30 September 2010 versus the same period in 2009. The solid growth is shown in mainly in platinum card which shows that more people in Asia have the money to spend and were doing so in the past couple of months and in the next few years to come for sure. Credit Card payment is the main way to pay for something when buying goods online and an increase here shows that more people are also going online and buying goods.

Yet further indication that this is not just a fad, it is here to stay for many more years. The common reason why people in Asia do not shop online is because of their credit card fears, they are scared the numbers might be duplicated and stolen. Now when Visa and MasterCard say that numbers are going up, it means they are slowly getting used to paying for goods online with the cards and numbers are expected to go up. With more moves to make the internet a safer place, the E-Commerce sites in Asia will be increasing in numbers for sure.
