Business and vacation travelers are returning to the Asia Pacific region and this cannot be more evident with the news that the Shangri-La group gave us just recently. Net profit before non-operating items climbed
to US$71.1 million in the first six months of this year from US$12.9
million in the same period last year. This increase is very drastic and comes to show that the economic crisis is well and truly over for this region. It was talked about here on keepclicking before how the air travel market here in Asia is on increase, with the area recording the most number of tourists. Also many big airlines have added more Asian routes to their roster to cash in on this surge. This group which has around 68 hotels around the region, saw the occupancy rates go up this year and the net profit took a positive swing too. There are plans in place to have further expansion in the Mainland later this year.Asia has been the savior for many big companies and now for this fine hotel group, people have not stopped traveling actually here. Even when the economic crisis was in full frontal, people around here were still traveling around so it did not hurt that much. Asia is a region that has learnt from its lessons before and dare I say it, is bullet proof to this kind of crisis again, the sun is shinning already here and big companies are enjoying this like this hotel group.
