There are plans in place and the regional heads seem to think 2015 would be a suitable time to aim for. This is when they hope to have an Asian region very similar to that of the European Union where all nations share tremendous trade benefits and also they have their own currency and so on. ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan stressed the need to fuse the disparate economies into a single market to be competitive. It does make perfect sense and the major differences between the nations have been settled. Right now, there are minor problems between the nations and once these are settled, it will be put into action and ready to go very soon, There have even been backs of combining this pact with the United States and that would make it very powerful indeed.This pact adds more value to the DotAsia domain space too since getting the ".Asia" domain name would really represent the whole region and a huge market would be targetted. It is true that right now, there are some divisions but with this and also there are talks on the table to incorporate Australia more to Asia and that would be the cherry on the icing of the cake and Asia would be the main region in the world.
