Hewlett-Packard, has extended its services and now provides music download for South East Asia. From a recent survey done by MTV about the youth in Asia, it was discovered that they are very active online indeed. They do not physically go out and buy CD's but they stay home and get them online. HP has seen this and realized how big it could be. So for now, HP customers can download 1120 songs over a 12 month period and 120 of these, they can hold onto forever.It could be that in future if it is successful, they can charge a small premium for these but for now they are free for HP customers. The service is in collaboration with Universal Music.The executives at HP think this collaboration will result in more people buying their notebooks because they will get the entire package at a good deal. Other companies have done this to and Asia is seen as the area where the most growth will take place in the media market. Yet more evidence that the future is in Asia.
