The Asian Disaster Reduction Center was established in 1998 and started using the ".Asia" domain name recently. It was set up to make the countries in Asia more resilient to natural disasters that are occurring in the world today, also to build safe communities and create a society where constant development can be done. The discussions about these are done and in a very UN like nature with countries contributing to make societies safer. It is somewhat similar to what we did ourselves, something called http://www.relief.asia which was created to help communities out who were recently hurt by natural disasters. So it could be that these 2 could work well together. The best thing about this is that this soceity was created a long time ago but only recently came online and started using the ".Asia" domain name Being relatively new, it gives organisations a chance to choose a relatively shorter and easier to remember name. Also the regional sense is increased and people will know from the domain name that this is something related to Asia.
