Online Gaming has been surging here in Asia with estimates from the Telecoms Market Research Report saying the revenue from online gaming will reach US$ 21.1 billion a huge increase. But, this is only 51.1% of the reach and there is enormous potential for the future. That is why people developing the game are looking for new ways to get people more interested, Here are some of the new ways and also they account for why people are going online more to play these games.

Social Networking
Along with online gaming, social networking has increased in popularity a lot too so it was quite smart to match these two together. PlayFish, a company with many of these games has been growing leaps and bounds and they were recently bought by Electronic Arts for around US$400 million. In Asia one of the reasons these are so successful, is a chance to beat your friend in a game and to be able to compete with him/her. The fact that it is free to play is another decisive factor.

Free Multiplayer Game
In September, a Korean game publisher, Nexon Corp., introduced its Dungeon Fighter to the North American market. It had been a massive hit in Asia. Unlike the many other similar games, this one does not charge a monthly fee and users can buy stuff from the game and that is how the company makes cash. Since its start in 2005, It has inspired many other publishers to follow the same model and it has changed the way online gaming works.

Cooperative Console Games
In 2002, Microsoft Corp. introduced XBox Live where users could use their game consoles, log on online and play the games with others. This idea has now spread to other consoles and it is a big selling point of the Sony Playstation too. Users here can play free versions of games and even play online with their friends.
