PayPal is flexing its muscles and trying to get hold of the Asian SME market. The benefits of going online have always been seen as advantageous but never really put into effect. They do have presence online but not a real system to sell products. Now this is changing. Mario Shiliashki, PayPal's managing director said that the recent economic crisis was a wake up call for these SME's and now they have to make sure they do have a plan B and actually going online could become their main plan. 90% of the respondants on a survey done by BlackBox Research said that they planned to move online in the near future. The statistics really do speak for themselves at times. In the Asia-Pacific region, PayPal has over 12 million active accounts. Its transaction volume in the region last year saw a year-on-year jump of 56 percent to US$4 billion. People are going online to look for stuff but most importantly, they are also very active and are buying stuff too. It was recession proof too with many people buying stuff during the last year too. For SME's going online, they can be flexible and also by using the ".Asia" domain name space are able to attract many more people too.
