Venice Film Festival put the spotlight on Asia today as the big and glamorous films from Asia took center stage as Soi Cheang's "Accident" and a Hong Kong film about Taiwan "Prince of Tears" hit the screens. The first movie "Accident", done in Hong Kong is a very creative new movie. The hitman is very creative, he makes accidents happen and almost coincidentailly, the person would die from the accident but it would be chereographed by the hitman. Great storyline and perfect addition to any film festival around the world.Prince of Tears is another movie making inroads in festivals. This movie tells the tale of old Taiwan about a family caught in the middle of the "White Terror" where they suppressed political dissidents. Movies like this and the one before seem to be doing good on the world stage, most of the next big movies are coming to Asia. Even big Hollywood stars have been seen in Bollywood movies which shows it is slowly becoming unified or the balance of power has shifted. These 2 movies could even make it to the Oscars for best foreign films.
