The first Pan-ASEAN basketball league was launched last Monday and it has teams from all over the south-east Asian regions. There is hope that the number of teams can be increased from 10-20 for the next season too. The tournament will begin on the 10th of October and will draw in huge crowds for sure. Basketball is like a national sport in some of these regions, take Philippines for example, they worship stars from the NBA and have some great players of their own, they will be taking this tournment very seriously.One of the many Intra-Asia functions going on at the same time, we have written here before about the ironmanchina.asia tournament which has runners from all over Asia, Kiteboarding in Asia is going to start soon and we even had poker in Macao and the list goes on. It will be much sooner rather than later that some of these initiatives realize the importance of the DotAsia name to them, it can give their website a sense of identity and also prove to the West that we can have as much competition amongst ourselves too.
