An international survey done with 200,000 passengers from 126 airports around the world gave some astonishing information. Asia was viewed to be having 4 of the top 5 airports in the world. The list included Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan. This is a truly remarkable achievement considering the fact they have not stopped adding quality and making it better even in face of a global economic recession.
One of the reasons why there are not any American Airports on the list is simply about the perception. They are widely thought to be public facilities there but in Asia it is a whole different ballgame, they are service-oriented businesses here. In Hong Kong, one can spend a whole day there, with lots of shopping and a world class shopping center nearby. In Singapore, it is actually a blessing in disguise to have a delay because it gives people time to appreciate the great airport.
In Seoul where the airport has been victorious for this award for 4 straight years, they get lots of government support which has the full intention of holding onto this amazing achievement, They have plans to spend a staggering US$120 million in the coming year for upgrades.
